Every small community has its signature restaurant. At least one anyway. In Kingston, Ontario, it’s Chez Piggy Restaurant, known as “The Pig” to the locals. It was started back in the late 70’s by one of the members of the Lovin’ Spoonful, Zal Yanovsky and his wife, Rose Richardson. They are both gone now, but the restaurant lives on.
The building is an old limestone stable, that interestingly, has no street-front presence. You have to go through various covered tunnels and walkways to access it. But as secluded its location is, you don’t find many Kingston visitors who didn’t discover it while they were here. It’s a secret place, with a catchy name, great food and a wonderful ambiance. What more can you ask for?
